Norfolk Makeover and Portrait Photography – Tips on Modelling by David Woodcock Photography.

I am David Woodcock a portrait photographer who provides a Norfolk makeover and portrait photography experience with Jane from Perfect Pamper and Julie from JB Bridal Hair. Lots of people like to work part time as models. It can be a lot of fun, you get to meet lots of suppliers from different businesses and get the opportunity to trial services such as beauty services and products such as wedding and prom dresses.

You can use our makeover experience as a start to getting a model portfolio. The price for a single person is £145 for an outdoor photo shoot and £165 for a studio photo shoot.

If you are under 18 years of age you will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The income from modelling can be modest. Don’t expect to get rich but you can often negotiate and trade your modelling services for services and products and get much greater value.

Below are some tips on modelling and getting a portfolio:-

  • Modelling is hard work and time consuming;
  • The modelling world is a small community and you will able to meet and learn from others;
  • No face is symmetrical and you will need to determine your favourite side to put in your portfolio;
  • Learn to move every time you hear the camera shutter click. A slight tilt of the head or change of hand positions make a big difference and will avoid the photographer getting many images that look the same;
  • Get a variety of images from extreme close up through the range including, head and shoulders, three quarter length and full length;
  • Your portfolio needs to demonstrate the type of images for the modelling that you want to do;
  • Use a makeup artist that uses professional quality makeup for your portfolio;
  • Use a photographer who can help you with poses and process images that are free of wrinkles, sunspots and flaws that makeup can not conceal;
  • Use only excellent images in your portfolio and do not repeat backgrounds or clothes;
  • Update your portfolio on an annual basis as you will mature and change as the years go by.

I also undertake commercial photography work in Norfolk and Norwich. Many clients need models to demonstrate their goods and services. Several people have modelled for me for the fun and experience and some now model for clients on a regular basis.
