A Gothic Wedding Beauty

NorfolkWeddingSuppliers-174As part of the Wedding and Special Occasions network group I was so pleased to be able to get creative with my make-up as the team decided that colour and variety was needed for the new photo project, so we went for a Fairy Tale, Grecian and Goth theme.

The images produced on the day are superb and I plan to launch a photo book when I get the time, but what I would like to promote to the East Anglian area is far away from the traditional wedding look and view the unusual. So I would like to blog the Goth Wedding.

Goth weddings are not all about cemeteries, death or the undead they are an alternative way of getting away from the traditional conservative wedding planning and be more, well, different! The central focus has to be on the bride and with most can be a preconception of a Goth bride in tattered lace with a posy of dead flowers which cannot be further from the surreal, creative and imaginative truth, with many Goth brides opting for ivory wedding gowns, some with a Victorian style and others wearing fantastic gowns in blues, reds and of course black.

When we, that is our small events and services team had a pre shoot get together at the Maggie’s, the Wedding and Prom Shop, Drayton  we had spent time discussing how we could promote ourselves to a market that is under catered for by choosing gowns that we researched would be ideal for a Goth wedding.  I then looked at a make-up that would be suitable for either a traditional ivory gown or a stunning dark coloured dress and used a primer foundation and matched the foundation to model Amy’s skin tone. I then applied a eye primes and layered pink, purple and navy blue eye shadow adding a black eye shadow along the lash line taking the colour around the eye and finishing off the water-line with a black kohl eyeliner. I had already shaped Amy’s eyebrows and applied eyelash extensions a few days earlier keeping the extensions natural with length but limited volume so not to detract from the eye make-up.   Adding a brown shadow to a tawny powder blush gave Amy’s cheek bones more definition against her pale skin, and finally using a cherry and purple lipstick blotted twice and finished off with a light layer of Vaseline as I didn’t want too much of a lip glossed look. The whole face powdered off with a dusting of natural loose face powder to seal the total Goth deal.

Julie Butcher of JB Bridal Hair worked on a fantastic piece of hair-up do artwork with a fleck of blonde extension to give the look a totally unique style. Rachel Pegg the owner of the Florist Shop, Wroxham produced a stunning bouquet with matching hair flower decoration that brought the whole flair and tone to the final look.

Once completed, David Woodcock, the photographer did his work on positioning our model Amy for some stunning shots that give any Goth bride-to-be an idea of what can be produced for a very unusual special occasion.
