Even if you haven’t the inclination as the constant wet stuff has put the thought of sandal wearing on the back-burner, it is time to give those feet their much needed overhaul.

If you can’t afford the luxury of having your beauty therapist to get your tootsies in perfect condition then here’s a few DIY tips.

If you haven’t got a foot spa then soak your feet in a bowl or take a long luxurious bath to clean and soften your feet. By doing this procedure first will help with the toe nail cutting battle by reducing the risk of blinding the person or pet in the firing line – get my drift? When cutting your nails ensure that you have a decent pair of curved nail scissors or a toe nail clipper, then cut straight across and not down the sides as this might lead to a painful in-growing toe nails. If you can’t manage with scissors use a good quality fine to medium grit surface emery board and file the nails to the required length. Push and tidy the cuticles by using a wooden orange stick.

Next step, is to get rid of that hard skin. Use a combination of a foot file, Scholl do a good range of files, and a foot exfoliation cream. Then apply a soothing foot moisturiser or a high factor sun tan lotion if you are about to present your feet to a sunny day.

Finally, add some colour; there are a fantastic range of new season colours including; OPI’s Holland Collection, and as normal the OPI marketing bods have come up with some great names, such as, ‘ I don’t give a Rotterdam’ ,‘Kiss Me on My Tulips’ and ‘Did You ‘ear About Van Gogh?’…. Brilliant”! And as pastels are the trend for the catwalks this season, Nails Inc has produced their Pretty Pastel Range. So there’s a huge amount of pretty and funky colours to choose from.

However, if you’d like the professional approach and have the job done for you while you sit back and delight in the relaxing experience ,then Perfect Pamper provides a whole hours luxury pedicure treatment for just £30. Just visit our mobile treatment page for details. And remember, if you Like us on Facebook and book your mobile treatmenton our page you’ll get 10% off your first booking!

And, how much should be used?

Let’s face it, all us girls from an early age had an interest in trying out our mum’s makeup when she’s wasn’t about. I remember that Elizabeth Arden did a great range in red lipstick that when applied liberally made me look like Coco the Clown, and at four years old I was pretty impressed with my new look – My mother wasn’t! The fact; growing girls experiment with make up and when alone there’s no limit on how much is used – So more, is more!

How I see it is, there is no “right” age.. Some girls begin wearing minimal makeup at age 11, such as lip gloss and mascara. Times are a changin’, and young girls are being consistently influenced by music and the media to look, dress and act a certain way. Also, peer pressure is a huge influence; we’ve all heard that school mate has/does it, so why can’t I. The mounting pressure from developing girls on their parents is overwhelming, but the responsible attitude to little girls and makeup is parental control – you can’t stop it, it will happen, so the best way is to set the guidelines and stick to them without argument.

Perfect Pamper does have a makeup option within the princess package but it is a little touch of light eye makeup and lip gloss – it’s more fun than vogue. We also offer makeup classes for older girls, again a good way to educate good skincare and makeup application practice. We consider that education at an early stage is the key to what to use and how much to use - So, there will be no worry that your pride-and-joy will leave the house looking like Lady GaGa.

Kat Lee (my friend and eyelash technician) and I maintain each others lashes with in-fills on a three-weekly basis. We are of course lucky that both of us our in the trade as eyelash extensions are financially high maintenance. However, as many of my clients have these for special occasions e.g. holidays, weddings, evening events the cost can be kept under control if you are on a budget.

If you have never had eyelash extensions before then try a set of express lashes to see if you like them first (express lashes are laid randomly on top of your natural lashes) and then go for the eyelash-to-eyelash version, being careful to explain to your eyelash technician/beautician the length of lashes you require. Too long and you could be looking at lashes not unlike those of Bambi, or too short and you might be disappointed in the end result if you want to have eyes of Bambi.

Eyelash strips are a great alternative for one-off occasions and there are a huge amount of styles to choose from even Amy Childs from TOWIE has just joined forces with Blink + Go to bring her first range of strip lashes to the beauty market. With some fantastic styles with names such as, Tease, Temptress and Flirt, there’s even an auburn range suitable for fairer girls.

Practice makes perfect with lash strip application and my tip is to 1) apply after putting your eye makeup on; 2) letting the glue dry-off before application (glue tacky stage) and getting a direct hit first time, not ending up annoyed that the lashes don’t stick and you’ve totally messed-up your makeup. As always, make sure that you use a good quality glue that doesn’t affect your natural lashes.

New out – Semi Permanent Mascara which lifts, gives volume, is smudge proof, waterproof and lasts for up to three-weeks. Salon Systems Marvelscara is available to beauty therapists and is a professional treatment that gives you three -weeks of mascara-fabulous eyes. In fact, Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Davis says, “As a girl who has to wear false lashes every day for work, this is the perfect as I now have three weeks off applying them. My lashes look so full, I love it!”

Your Prom Party Checklist …………

PROM DRESS; STYLE AND ORIGINALITY!; Go for dresses that suits your figure and a colour that looks good on you. Panache is important, but comfort is key to having a good evening. Those corset top dresses look great, but if they don’t fit your top half well they become an irritation when you have to adjust them all the time. Or, having the embarrassment of showing off more than you want to!

Less is more! Shoes, bag and jewellery should compliment the main star of the show, your dress. So it’s best not to go bling or colour matching mad with accessories

PROM SHOE; COMFORTABLE AND SEXY!; Best piece of advice when shopping for your shoes, is to shop when you have been on your feet for sometime, so mid to late afternoon is a good time as you feet will have warmed and swelled up a little – Ideal for trying on the large range of killer heels to ensure that your final choice will be reasonably comfortable on your feet on the night.

PROM HAIR; UPDO OR DOWN? Consult your stylist on a style that you may want and that you think would look good with your dress. Have a few home try outs with your friends before the big night.

PROM BEAUTY; TO DOS!

Eyebrow trim
Good manicure and pedicure (don’t forget those feet if you’re going to wear sandals)
Facial; Cleanse, tone, exfoliate, mask and moisturise
Body exfoliation

If you’ve got some extra cash to splash, then why not have:
Nail extensions or gel overlays – fingers and toes
Eyelash extensions – full set or express lashes
Spray tan

PROM MAKEUP; DON’T OVER DO IT! Subtle and beautiful should be the end result. A moisturising foundation with a hint of shine, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara (if you don’t want extensions or strips) and a good lip gloss. If you’re hopeless at doing your own makeup get a professional to help.

Perfect Pamper is offering prom party packages so if you’d prefer for the professional touch then we have all the treatments you will require to lool perfection for your special occasion. See pamper party packages pages for details; here’s the link

After doing three wedding fayre events so far this year and talking to brides-to-be, it is apparent that the new trend for something a little more relaxing with friends and family for a hen party is favoured, rather than donning the net curtain veil and the ‘L’ plate and going out on a pub crawl.

Since I started Perfect Pamper back in 2009 I have seen the increase in business with hen parties being held in weekend holiday cottages, in some cases, locations my sat nav has had trouble finding.

I have learnt that making you own entertainment , getting Tesco (and the likes) to deliver consumables for your party and have businesses like Perfect Pamper to come and give that relaxing chill-out experience , makes the event really special. It also makes it easier for friends who don’t live near each other to make their way to a chosen location that suits the whole party. I have been to some of the most beautiful holiday lets in Norfolk , one springs to mind back in 2010, when I was booked for a party at the most elegantly refurbished moated Elizabethan manor house that came with cook and a pool complex with all facilities . The group had booked the manor house for four days and put together their themed party. Not everyone can afford something like Morley Old Hall for their special weekend, but there are many venues throughout Norfolk and Suffolk that can cater for large groups.

With the knowledge of places that can cater for large groups I decided to add a venue finding service to Perfect Pamper in 2011 as an additional customer service. So if people don’t have the time or don’t know where to start, at least I can help with this task.

So if you need help finding a venue, then please give me a call I would be happy to help.
